Hi! Welcome to the Christian Resource Centre Website!
The Christian Resource Centre is located in Chikankata, Mazabuka District, Southern Province of Zambia, in Chieftainess Mweenda’s area. It is the only public library in Mazabuka district.
The Centre was established in 2005 with the aim to enable pastors, local church leaders and the general public to have access to the word of God and enhance their spiritual growth. It exists to glorify God through the provision of Christian literature, Bibles, Bible study materials, devotional books and other Christian resources to the people at large so that these people are ministered to and become saved and grow in the love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The Centre does not receive any financial support from any organisation. It is sustained by prayers, through members’ contribution of K 10,000 (ten thousand Kwachas=1.80 USD) per person per year as membership fee. However, I must mention that the Centre has received good support in terms of books, chess sets, clothes and shoes which are given out to help the poor. We promote the game of chess as recreation for the public.
Recently, with the opening of a Biomedical College in Chikankata and the upgrading of Chikankata School of Nursing, the Centre has taken this as an opportunity to contribute to national development through the development of human resources. The Centre has been expanded to include medical books which have since been donated by individuals and various organisations. The students and the medical staff use the Centre free of charge.
The Centre is also involved in the following areas of ministry: -Distribution of clothes, shoes and educational materials among widows and orphans. This is made possible with donations coming from within the country and abroad.
-Solicits for mobility aids and other supportive devices for disabled persons.
-Train interested individuals in tailoring and knitting to empower them with skills.
Challenges! The Centre has faced a number of challenges since its inception. It started without any money in hand and still continues to look for financial support. The following are the challenges that faced the Centre.
-Lack of infrastructure, the Centre is still operated in rented buildings. Due to financial constraint full time employees lacked. In the small building rented by the Centre all activities from tailoring, carpentry, knitting to farming lessons are conducted.
-Lack of office equipments like computers, photocopying machine and scanners.
-Lack of transport to reach out to people in remote areas.
-Inadequate material support in terms of Bible and Bible commentaries, Bible study materials, educational materials for high school pupils, medical text books for Biomedical and Nursing students, mobility aids for disabled not forth coming.
What you can do to help the Centre? -Join us in prayer for God to help us with the needed resources.
-Tell others about us so that they can assist us in one way or the other.
-You may decide to donate materially or financially.
-Mobilise Bibles, Christian literature, medical books and send them to us.
-Represent our ministry by offering yourself for our cause or request someone if they can stand in for us.
